{"id":1368,"date":"2021-01-22T13:40:08","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T13:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/?p=1368"},"modified":"2021-01-22T13:43:15","modified_gmt":"2021-01-22T13:43:15","slug":"february-2021-fwrr-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/index.php\/2021\/01\/22\/february-2021-fwrr-newsletter\/","title":{"rendered":"FEBRUARY 2021 FWRR NEWSLETTER"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FEBRUARY 2021 FWRR\nNEWSLETTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FWRR Club Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assuming that the Allen\nCounty COVID 19 status is not <em>Red<\/em>, the next club meeting will be held on\nFebruary 2<sup>nd<\/sup>.&nbsp; Meeting\nPlace:&nbsp; New Haven Community Center.&nbsp; Time: 6:00 \u2013 7:30 p.m. (The building must be\nvacated by 8:00 p.m.)&nbsp; Venue\nRestrictions: No Alcohol or firearms on the premises.&nbsp; Please try to attend as a quorum is required\nto conduct club business.&nbsp; Attendees are\nasked to wear masks and to observe social distancing protocol. If the meeting\nmust be canceled, a cancellation notice will be placed on the club\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agenda: Club election and\nstandard meeting format.&nbsp;&nbsp; Clean-up Day\nactivities will be addressed under the heading <em>New Business<\/em>. Please feel\nfree to bring up ideas for work that you would like to see accomplished or\nstarted on Clean-up Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Election Ballot<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President: Jim Sweeney\n(present)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vice President: Matt Hice\n(present, acting VP) and Dean Drews<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary:&nbsp; Mike Miller (present)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treasurer:&nbsp; Marty Didion (present)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director:&nbsp; Jim Johnston, Gary Walker, and Tim Wunderlich<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Program\nManager:&nbsp; Ryan Brammer (present)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Safety\nOfficer:&nbsp; Larry Beardsley (present)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations will\nbe accepted from the floor.&nbsp; Thanks to\nCommittee Head, John Halter, and the Range Officers (ROs) who assisted him with\nputting together the ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Events\nSchedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ryan Brammer (Program\nManager) is preparing the 2021 Events Schedule. When completed, the schedule\nwill be posted on the club\u2019s website and copies will be mailed to those persons\nwho have elected to receive the newsletter via USPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2021 Dues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dues must be\nreceived on or before March 31<sup>st<\/sup> to avoid a late fee or possible\nmembership termination.&nbsp; Dues received\nwith postmark dates after March 1<sup>st&nbsp;\n<\/sup>but before March 31<sup>st<\/sup> are subject to a $25.00 late\nfee.&nbsp; After March 31<sup>st<\/sup>,\ndelinquency will result in membership termination.&nbsp; Terminated members must reapply for\nmembership and pay the new-member initiation fee if they desire\nreinstatement.&nbsp; If personal hardship\nprevents timely payment, contact a club officer who may arrange for dues to be\nwaived or payment to be deferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Newsletter\nEditor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club is still\nseeking a volunteer to serve as Newsletter Editor.&nbsp; The editor is responsible for collecting\ninputs from club officers and ROs, preparing the newsletter, and distributing\nit via email or USPS (per member preference) two weeks prior to club meetings.\nInterested members may contact Marty Didion (<a href=\"mailto:martindidion4@gmail.com\">martindidion4@gmail.com<\/a>) to volunteer and\/or to receive additional\ninformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clean-up\nDay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clean-up Day is\ntentatively scheduled for April 24<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; Refer to the 2021 Events Schedule for date\nconfirmation.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Foot Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the\nefforts of Greg Peck, we have received steel trusses and bracing for a new foot\nbridge over the ditch on the 25\/50\/100 yard portion of the range.&nbsp; Thanks go to Nucor (and Kian Dolsen of Nucor)\nfor the donation of the trusses,&nbsp;\nbracing, and assembly hardware.&nbsp;\nThe plan is to fabricate and begin installing the bridge on Clean-up\nDay, conditions permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the reverse side for more news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pistol Bay Work<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work to raise the\nheight of the wing berms in the Pistol Bays by approximately four feet has been\ncompleted.&nbsp; Thanks go to Matt Hice for\ncoordinating the activity and to Ted Smeltzer and his son for helping with\nseeding and strawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Junior\nProgram<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After several\nattempts over the past 30 years or more to get youth involved in the shooting\nsports on an ongoing basis, it appears that Larry Beardsley may be succeeding in\nachieving that objective.&nbsp; Larry has\nthree juniors, who have parental support, interested in High Power\ncompetition.&nbsp;&nbsp; Donations for the Junior\nProgram were casually solicited from members over the last several months.&nbsp; The response has been outstanding.&nbsp; So far, over $2500.00 has been pledged.&nbsp; The funds will be used to purchase two\nentry-grade rifles and optics, ammunition, components, and other essentials.\nMembers interested making donations of funds , equipment, ammunition or ammunition\ncomponents&nbsp; may contact Larry Beardsley\nat <a href=\"mailto:fwrrhpdirector@aol.com\">fwrrhpdirector@aol.com<\/a>.&nbsp; Larry\nwishes to thank members (too numerous to list) who have donated brass to the\nprogram.&nbsp; Special thanks to new member\nMark Richard for his donation of a large quantity of M193 LC ammunition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mowing Crew<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks go to the\nmembers who served on the mowing crew during the past year. Anyone interested\nin becoming a member of the mowing crew should contact Marty Didion (<a href=\"mailto:martindidion4@gmail.com\">martindidion4@gmail.com<\/a>) to be placed on the 2021 Mowing\nSchedule.&nbsp; A mowing schedule will be\nposted on the club website sometime in March.&nbsp;\nTypically, mowing is performed on Wednesdays.
