{"id":1402,"date":"2021-03-10T16:07:38","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T16:07:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/?p=1402"},"modified":"2021-03-10T16:07:40","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T16:07:40","slug":"concrete-target-not-a-good-idea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/index.php\/2021\/03\/10\/concrete-target-not-a-good-idea\/","title":{"rendered":"Concrete Target &#8211; Not a Good Idea!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>I\u2019ve been Safety\nOfficer for several years now, and I thought I had seen just about every safety\ninfraction, but I guess people are just more inventive than I give them credit\nfor.&nbsp; I was doing a walk-about at the\nrange today and I saw something laying on the berm between the high power\ntargets number boards and the pit area.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I thought at first it was a piece of plastic that had blown off the burn pile, but when I went over \u2013 it turned out to be a piece of cast concrete that someone had used for a target at 300-yards.\u00a0 They had hit at least once because it had shattered and there was spalled concrete scattered about.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Concrete-Target-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Concrete-Target-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Concrete-Target-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Concrete-Target-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Concrete Target, 10 March 2021<br>BAD IDEA!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is a violation\nof any number of Range Rules and just everyday common sense!&nbsp; For example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Range Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. All firing is to be done only from the direction of the\nfiring line toward the backstop. All projectiles must impact only on Club\nproperty!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Violations and Fines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Targets are to be placed so that bullets will impact the\nbackstop. Bullets will pass over the backstop if targets are placed too high.\nTargets placed too low results in bullets hitting the ground short of the\nbackstop may ricochet off the Range, especially when the ground is frozen in\nwinter or packed hard as it sometimes is in the summer.
