17 &#8211; 19 June, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After\nlast year\u2019s Midsummer Madness Tournament, I made the following comment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&nbsp;If\nI ever again suggest that we shoot four matches on three consecutive days \u2013\nsomebody call the head doctor and have me checked for mental stability.&nbsp;\nWell, maybe not \u2013 by next summer I may decide to try it again.&nbsp; Shooting\nMid-Summer Madness on three consecutive days gives me a whole new appreciation\nof what it takes to shoot every day for a month at Camp Perry or Camp\nAtterbury.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, I decided to try again this summer and I believe we had a\nvery successful weekend of shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday\nAfternoon \u2013 June 17 &#8212;&nbsp; 50-Round NRA National Match Course<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We started\nout of Friday afternoon with a 50-round match.&nbsp; I had two fairly full\nrelays with 15 shooters coming to the line \u2013 two more than last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a contrast\nto last year, the weather was absolutely a delight Friday afternoon and\ncontinued that way throughout the weekend.&nbsp;\nMy Stat Office weather observer called it 82-degrees at 4:29 when the\nfirst shot went downrange, with a wind of 12 \u2013 17 MPH from about 1 or 2\no\u2019clock.&nbsp; By the time we finished at\n6:30, the wind had pretty much died down and it wasn\u2019t much of a factor during\nthe match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top three\nshooters in this match were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Richard&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 490-19X<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geoff Branson&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 488-22X<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Walters&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 486-11X<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, as a note \u2013 the fourth place finisher in the match was one of the Junior Girls we claim as our own, Miss Emma Branson with a 477-14X.&nbsp; Emma is John Halter\u2019s grand-daughter, a third generation&nbsp; Geoff Branson, Emma Branson and John Halter<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saturday,\nJune 18 \u2013 CMP\/NRA 50-80 Match<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Saturday\nmatch was sanctioned by both the CMP and NRA.&nbsp; The NRA match could be shot\nas either a 50 or 80-round match, the CMP match was an 80-round match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We started at 8:08;\nit was an unbelievable 59-degrees at first shot with a very light north wind \u2013\nagain the wind had no effect on the match.&nbsp;\nWe shuffled folks into three relays which moved the match along quickly\n\u2013 shooting an 80-round, three relay match in just a little over 3-and- a half\nhours&nbsp; 771-28X<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday\nMorning, June 19&nbsp;&#8212; &nbsp;Mid-Range\nTournament<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunday dawned\nclear and even cooler than Saturday; cooler, 55-degrees and no wind or breeze\nto speak of. &nbsp;The Sunday morning session\nwas, technically, a Tournament within a tournament since it consisted of three,\n60-round matches.&nbsp; 17 shooters came to shoot and we worked them into a\nthree relay format.&nbsp; Once we came close\nto the end of the first relay and firing points came open, we moved into\ninfiltration firing which made the match go very smoothly.&nbsp; We shot all three matches as \u201cany-sight\u201d\nmatches and several competitors shot at least one match with iron sights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This match saw\nsome fantastic shooting with the top five competitors separated by only\n5-points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geoff Branson&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 599-36X&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Yes, he actually only dropped                                                                            <strong>ONE<\/strong> point)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ron Dague&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 594-26X&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Junior Girl)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday\nAfternoon; Mike Gingher M1A Memorial Match<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the\nfinal match of the weekend and five shooters stayed to see just who was going\nto take the bragging rights for the Aggregate Score for the weekend tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a match\nwe have named for Mike Gingher, a long time FWRR member and a very prominent\nfigure in the High Power shooting sport.&nbsp; He was a long time armorer for\nthe USMC Reserve National Team and a fixture at Camp Perry National Matches as\na Coach and armorer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mike\nGingher M1A Memorial Match results were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark\nWalters&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
