{"id":2413,"date":"2024-02-02T15:17:02","date_gmt":"2024-02-02T15:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/?p=2413"},"modified":"2024-02-02T15:17:02","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T15:17:02","slug":"fwrr-newsletter-february-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/index.php\/2024\/02\/02\/fwrr-newsletter-february-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"FWRR Newsletter &#8211; February 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>February\n2024 FWRRC NEWSLETTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FWRR\nClub Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nnext meeting of the Fort Wayne Rifle and Revolver Club will be held on Monday,\nFebruary 5,2024.&nbsp; Meeting\nPlace: VFW Post 857, located at 2202 West Main Street in Fort Wayne.&nbsp;\nMeeting Time: 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meeting Agenda:&nbsp;\nStandard meeting format.&nbsp; New business topics will include a discussion of\nCleanup Day activities.&nbsp; Please make an effort to attend meetings, as a\nquorum is required to conduct club business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2024\nMembership Renewal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2024\nMembership Renewal Forms were mailed in early December, 2023. To date,\napproximately 55% of the membership has responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dues must be received on or before March 1st to avoid a late fee or termination of membership. Dues received with postmark dates after March 1st, but on or before March 31st, are subject to a $25.00 late fee. Dues received with postmark dates after March 31st will be returned with a notice indicating that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> 1) the party&#8217;s membership has been terminated, and;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> 2) future membership requires submission of a membership application and payment of new member fees (c.f., Bylaws Article XI, Section 2).\u00a0 Dues paid with an NSF check are subject to a $25.00 returned check fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If\npersonal hardship prevents timely payment of dues, contact a club officer who\nmay arrange either for dues to be waived or for payment to be deferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE\nINSTRUCTIONS PRINTED AT THE TOP OF THE FORM.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Provide responses to all requested information and remember to include proof of current NRA membership.\u00a0\u00a0 PROOF OF NRA MEMBERSHIP MUST BE DATED.\u00a0 A photocopy of a membership card of a magazine label (or the label itself) are acceptable forms of proof of current membership.\u00a0 (Some NRA membership cards lack dates.\u00a0 At present, magazine labels contain membership date information.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals who were accepted as\nmembers after October 1, 2023 are not required to pay membership dues for the\n2024 calendar year; nevertheless, they do need to return the renewal form with\nproof of current NRA membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Updating\nthe roster is a time-consuming activity.&nbsp; Deciphering illegible printing&nbsp;and contacting members to obtain\nproof of NRA membership are frustrating and time-consuming tasks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cleanup\nDay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please join fellow members for\nwork, lunch, and camaraderie at Cleanup Day, April 27, 2024.&nbsp; As usual,\nwork will include target frame repairs, road grading, and the trimming of trees\nand brush along the lane.&nbsp; In addition, new seats will be assembled to\nreplace those which have deteriorated or mysteriously disappeared.&nbsp;&nbsp; If\nyou have suggestions for additional projects, please present them at the\nFebruary meeting.&nbsp; A list of projects will be posted on the website&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lock\nCombination Change<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nlock combination change will be made on Cleanup Day (4\/27\/24).&nbsp; Retain\nyour 2023 Membership Card until the change is made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dues\nIncrease<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basic\ndues for 2024 were increase from $60.00 to $80.00 and will increase at a rate\nof $5.00 per year for the following four years.&nbsp; Individuals inducted\nbefore January 2024 will be grandfathered with regard to Senior and Life\nmemberships under Article XI, Section 5 of the recently amended 2002\nBylaws.&nbsp; Individuals inducted after January 2024, who have been members\nfor at least five consecutive years, are eligible for Life (dues free)\nmembership&nbsp;in the year following&nbsp;their\n70th birthday.&nbsp; Article XI, Sections 5 of the Bylaws will be amended to\nreflect these changes.&nbsp; The Bylaw revision will be mailed with 2024\nMembership Cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Driving\nOff Road<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE NEWLY\nINSTALLED SWALES*, IT IS NO LONGER PERMISSIBLE FOR&nbsp;ANY&nbsp;MEMBER&nbsp;TO DRIVE OFF ROAD TO THE 100\nYARD TARGET FRAME.<\/strong>&nbsp; Soil conditions\npermitting, it is acceptable to drive on the grass downrange (west) of the\n100-yard firing mound on the 300 yard range to access the 200 yard target\nframes.&nbsp; Do not drive across the 100-yard firing mound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>swales<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;are\na low or hollow place, especially a&nbsp;marshy&nbsp;depression between&nbsp;ridges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Discipline\nReports<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACPDL (<a href=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/index.php\/allen-county-practical-defense-league-acpdl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Allen\nCounty Practical Defense League<\/a>)\n*<\/strong><strong>Click Name for more\ninformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACPDL\nmatches will be held on February 3rd, March 2nd, and April 6th.&nbsp; Only\nACPDL members are permitted to shoot.&nbsp; The pre-match meeting begins at\n9:00 a.m. and shooting commences at 9:30 a.m.&nbsp; Matches are typically\nfinished by 12:00 noon.&nbsp; Observers and those persons interested in\nbecoming ACPDL members are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>USPSA (<a href=\"https:\/\/uspsa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United\nStates Practical Shooting Association<\/a>) *<\/strong><strong>Click Name for more\ninformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>USPSA\nmatches will be held on March 3rd and April 24th.&nbsp; Match start time is\n9:00 a.m.&nbsp; A practice session is scheduled for April 4th at 5:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>High-power (HP)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winter\nOffhand Matches are scheduled for February 10th and March 9th.&nbsp;\nRegistration begins at 8:00 a.m. and match start time is 9:00 a.m.&nbsp; The next\n50\/80 round National Match course will be fired on April 20th.&nbsp;\nRegistration begins at 7:00 a.m. and match start time is 8:00 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Breakfast with\nthe Juniors fund raiser will be held in March.&nbsp; Sausage and gravy will be\non the menu. Please check the website for the date.&nbsp; A Winchester Model 94\n\u201cCount the Bullets in a Jar\u201d event will be held at the breakfast.&nbsp; A maximum\nof 40 opportunities will be offered to count the bullets at a requested\ndonation amount of $15.00\/opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If\nyou have young folks who are interested in HP rifle competition, please contact\nLarry Beardsley.&nbsp; Email:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:fwrrhpdirector@aol.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fwrrhpdirector@aol.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cowboy Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nnext Cowboy Action Match will be held on April 13.&nbsp; Registration opens at\n8:30 a.m. for regular matches and at 9:00 a.m. for voluntary side\nmatches.&nbsp; Regular match start time is 10:00 a.m.&nbsp; The matches begin\nwith a mandatory shooter\u2019s meeting. The ammunition requirements for the regular\nmatch are 60 rounds for pistols, 60 rounds rifles, and 30 rounds for\nshotguns.&nbsp; Only lead bullets and shot are permitted.&nbsp; Shot may be no\nlarger than #4 (shot sizes 4 \u2013 9).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PCSL (Practical Competition\nShooting League)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PCSL\nmatches will be held on March 24th and April 28th.&nbsp; Match time is 10:00\na.m. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m.&nbsp; New shooter orientation begins at\n9:50 a.m.&nbsp; Rifles in caliber .223 and pistols in calibers 9 mm, .40 and\n.45 are used in this competition.
