Meeting Place:\nVFW Post 857, located at 2202 West Main Street in Fort Wayne.&nbsp; Meeting\nTime: 7:30 p.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;Meeting Agenda:&nbsp; Standard meeting\nformat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please make an effort to attend meetings,\nas a quorum is required to conduct club business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Club Election<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Club Officers will be elected during the\nDecember meeting.&nbsp; Positions include: President, Vice President,\nSecretary, Treasurer, Director, Program Manager, and Range Safety Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The term of the Director is&nbsp;<strong>six\nyears<\/strong>; the term of all other elected officials is&nbsp;<strong>two years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Persons who have been members in good\nstanding for two full years are eligible to run for office and to vote in\nelections.&nbsp;&nbsp; Eligible members who\nwish to have their names placed on the ballot should contact Mark Walters at\nthe October meeting or via email (mwalt1@comcast.net).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maintenance Activities, Facility\nImprovements, etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks go to Jim Johnston and Rick\nSchwaiger for their work in cleaning up debris from the tree which fell at the\nsouth end of the 100-yard firing line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mowing Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2024 Mowing Schedule is available on\nthe club\u2019s website.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mowing dates that are scheduled to occur are&nbsp;<strong>10\/16, and 10\/30<\/strong>.&nbsp; Dates are tentative, depending on weather and ground conditions.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mowing times vary according to volunteer availability.&nbsp; Efforts will be made to provide mowing date and time updates on the website.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Main Range is closed during mowing and\nother range maintenance activities.&nbsp;&nbsp; Pistol Bays 4 and 5 remain open\nduring mowing.&nbsp; It is recommended that members check the website&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;for updates before\ntraveling to the range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sad News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two members have passed away since the\npublication of the last newsletter<strong>: Bill Simon (April, 1988<\/strong>) and&nbsp;<strong>Nick\nNorris (February, 2006<\/strong>).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bill was an avid sportsman and high-power\ncompetitor.&nbsp;&nbsp; Nick was interested in\nall facets of firearms, especially precision shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Discipline Reports<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACPDL (Allen County Practical\nDefense League)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An ACPDL match will be held on&nbsp;<strong>\n11\/2<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp; The last match of the calendar year will be held on&nbsp;<strong>12\/7<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only ACPDL members are permitted to shoot.&nbsp; The pre-match meeting begins at&nbsp;<strong>9:00\na.m<\/strong>. and shooting commences at&nbsp;<strong>9:30 a.m<\/strong>.&nbsp; Matches are\ntypically finished by 12:00 noon.&nbsp; &nbsp;Observers\nand those persons interested in becoming ACPDL members are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>USPSA (United States Practical\nShooting Association)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last match of the calendar year will\nbe held at&nbsp;<strong>9:00 a.m. on 10\/20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>High-power (HP)<\/strong> &#8212; <strong>Upcoming High Power\nEvents<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Junior Class&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday October 12, I am holding a High Power Clinic\nfocusing on prospective Junior shooters from the DeKalb County 4-H shooting\nprogram &#8211; but if you have a Junior that would be interested in High Power,\nplease invite them to this class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The class starts at 8:00, participants will need to bring\nlunch.&nbsp; After a morning classroom\nsession, we will shoot to practice the things we covered in classroom\ninstruction.&nbsp; The class is free to\nJuniors and parents are welcome to sit in and see what we are doing with the\nprogram.&nbsp;&nbsp; Let me know of any interested\nJuniors &#8211; contact Larry Beardsley at FWRRHPDirector@aol.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3 x 20 Prone Match<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our last High Power match of the season will be on\nSaturday, October 19 &#8211; a 3 x 20, 300-yard Prone Match.&nbsp; These matches are some of the most popular\nand well attended matches we have and I would like to close out the season with\na BANG with this match.&nbsp; The last match\nwe had to run three relays -so make me run four relays this time!&nbsp; Start time is 9:00 &#8211; we\u2019ve lost the early\nmorning sun as we get deeper into Fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winter Offhand<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winter Offhand starts on Saturday, November 9th (note the\nreturn to second Saturday activities).&nbsp;\nWe register at 8:30 or so and start when we get a full relay on the\nline.&nbsp; We will shoot as many relays as we\nneed to accommodate everyone.&nbsp; Course of\nfire is 22 shots first stage (the low two shots are considered to be sighters\nand 20-shots for record) and 20-shots for record second stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on demand, there may be a Junior practice\nfollowing the match as well as the winter Half Match crew resuming their\nmatches.&nbsp; Keep an eye open for how this\nworks out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Main Range closes at&nbsp;<strong>3:00 p.m.<\/strong>&nbsp;prior\nto HP practice sessions.&nbsp;&nbsp; The\npistol bays remain open during HP practice sessions and matches.&nbsp;&nbsp; Tayt Shaffer, Coach Beardsley, Geoff Branson and Emma Branson<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cowboy Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last Cowboy Action match of the\ncalendar year will be held on&nbsp;<strong>10\/12<\/strong>.&nbsp; Registration opens\nat&nbsp;<strong>8:30 a.m.<\/strong>&nbsp;for regular matches and at&nbsp;<strong>9:00 a.m.<\/strong>&nbsp;for\nvoluntary side matches.&nbsp; Regular match start time is 10:00 a.m.&nbsp; The\nmatches begin with a mandatory shooter meeting. The ammunition requirements for\nthe regular match are 60 rounds for pistols, 60 rounds rifles, and 30 rounds\nfor shotguns.&nbsp; Only lead bullets and shot are permitted.&nbsp; Shot may be\nno larger than #4 (shot sizes 4 \u2013 9).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PCSL (Practical Competition\nShooting League)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last PCSL match of the calendar year\nwill be held on&nbsp;<strong>10\/27<\/strong>. Match time is&nbsp;<strong>10:00 a.m.<\/strong>&nbsp;Registration\nstarts at&nbsp;<strong>9:30 a.m.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New shooter orientation begins at&nbsp;<strong>9:50\na.m.<\/strong>&nbsp; Rifles in caliber .223 and pistols in calibers 9 mm, .40 and .45\nare used in this competition.&nbsp; Rounds\ncounts are 120\/match for rifles and 60\/match for pistols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New Members<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please welcome new members&nbsp;<strong>Denis\nCook<\/strong>&nbsp;(yes, one \u2018N\u2019),&nbsp;<strong>Melvin Craft<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Eric Melton<\/strong>,\nand&nbsp;<strong>Paul<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Till<\/strong>.
