{"id":3062,"date":"2026-04-04T22:08:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T22:08:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/?p=3062"},"modified":"2026-04-04T22:08:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T22:08:20","slug":"saturday-april-4th-range-clean-up-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/index.php\/2026\/04\/04\/saturday-april-4th-range-clean-up-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Saturday, April 4th; Range Clean-Up Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saturday April 4th was the Clean-Up Day for the rifle ranges \u2013 the pistol group had a work session a couple of weeks ago to get their facilities ready for the upcoming season and today was our turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weather was threatening \u2013 every forecast predicted that we would have a rainout, but we had a goodly number of folks show up and there were enough hands available to make light work of the tasks we could get to on a wet soggy day.\u00a0 Aside from a very light sprinkle about 8:00, we had dry &#8211; if not clear weather for the morning\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electronic target frames were repaired and firing point markers on the 200 and 300-yard firing lines were moved about 2-feet north to give a bit more room on the low end of the 200-yard line and to move the impact points in the bunker.\u00a0 Horizontal support rails for the 25 and 50-yard target frames had the bent nails installed.\u00a0 After we walked around in the mud from the recent rains, an impromptu drainage project was undertaken \u2013 adding a drain channel on the high side of the bench rest firing points to maybe keep mud from overrunning the concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"919\" src=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_1481-1024x919.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3066\" style=\"width:474px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_1481-1024x919.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_1481-300x269.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_1481-768x689.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_1481-1536x1378.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/fwrrclub.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_1481-2048x1838.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>Grown-ups digging ditches and playing in the mud like a bunch of kids&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gravel was hauled around to fill the washouts in the road going down to the pistol pits \u2013 more involved roadway repair will be done as things dry out a bit. \u00a0A couple of brave souls took a ladder and cleaned out the gutters on the east side of the clubhouse \u2013 there were some interesting things growing in there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A crew went to the high power pits and dug out one of the counterweight tubes to repair a broken target frame cable that was making a target sit cock-eyed in its frame.\u00a0 That target will cycle up and down much smoother now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sticks were hauled off \u2013 the major job of trimming bushes back will have to wait \u2013 it was just too wet to get back and forth to the burn pile today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And \u2013 last but not least \u2013 a crew of our Juniors took it as a task to do a spring cleaning of the clubhouse. They cleaned the dead critters out of the window tracks, vacuumed up the dead spiders and their webs and swept up all of the winter crud that had been tracked into the building. Someone thought they needed to drive across the soft ground to put up targets  at the 50-yard target frame.
